Wooddwellas

Wooddwellas

Belize, Central America

They emerge from the depths of the rainforests of Belize. The WoodDwellas! The tribe, whose leaders are Quinn and Mosez, brings to the world of philosophy highlighting the importance of a "return of woods". For the WoodDwellas returning to the woods means reuniting with nature, and realizing that we must all respect and protect our earth. Mother earth, whose fruitfulness feeds our livelihood. This philosophy explains the name of the tribe, WoodDwellas, and the strength of the relationship that the group has forged with the Belizean Audubon Society, whose aim is to protect the Belize rainforests and its inhabitants.

Quinn, who represents one half of the leadership of the WoodDwellas tribe, is also the president of the independent record label to which the group is signed, Dark Waters. He began his musical career in his early teens, his influenced being Burning Spear, Steel, Pulse and Bob Marley and The Wailers. The most dominant influence over his being, however, has been his Belizean heritage. Being rooted in the Third World country, Quinn has learned to reject he excesses that have been introduced into today's society and has instead opted for a simple way of life. A lifestyle which reflects an appreciation for the necessities. While giving thanks and praise for the unexpected blessings.

The other half of the leadership of the WoodDwellas tribe is represented through Mosez, whose name means, "to bring forth". Appropriately so, he brings to the group an unreplicated style of reggae. Mosez's ability to compliment the traditional sounds of lover's rock and reggae with his musical knowledge of jazz and blues has enabled the WoodDwellas to transcend to an even higher level. Together they are known as one of the most innovative groups of the new school.

With the accompaniment of their band members. The Lions, the WoodDwellas speak of the history and struggles of the dispersed Africans of the world. The group communicates to the masses in the cultural tongue of Africa's children abroad, while providing a spiritually exhilerating performance. Their focus on cultural awareness is sure to influence the birth of the new enlightened generation.
